"Daredevil" Season 2: Thoughts on the First Episode (SPOILERS)

The second season of Daredevil has at long lost arrived! Huzzah!

For kicks and giggles, for every one or few episodes I watch, I'll write up a very quick, spoiler-FILLED review, in the vein of the "Other Thoughts" sections in my other reviews.

So here are my thoughts on the first episode...

"Bang" (Season 2, Episode 1)
  • Man, I didn't fully realize how much I missed this show until the opening credits. That theme song never gets old.
  • It's still great seeing Matt, Foggy and Karen all together and playing off each other.
  • That Irish mob dinner party scene was pretty genius. There's a bunch of exposition about what's been going on since Fisk was arrested, then the Punisher explodes (almost literally) onto the scene. It 's like the show's saying, "OK, here's what you missed, but we know you really wanna see Punisher, so here he is." Good writing.
  • But seriously, giving us Punisher right away instead of slow-burning his introduction like Kingpin last season is a good move.
  • You'd think Turk would just learn at some point that it's impossible for him to outwit Daredevil.
  • The "Dogs of Hell." They were in an Agents of SHIELD episode, right? Let me check...
  • Overall, a very gripping and fun start to the season. Can't wait to keep watching.
Rating: 9.3/10 pies
