"Daredevil" Season 2: Thoughts on Episodes 2 & 3 (SPOILERS)

Man, this season's getting good...

"Dog to a Gunfight" (Season 2, Episode 2)

  • Foggy, you're a kickass friend. Did you know that?
  • I like how they've established that Karen isn't completely in the dark about Matt's nocturnal activities. She's gotta learn the truth before the end, right?
  • Jon Bernthal is a fantastic Punisher. The scene in the pawn shop was pretty tense thanks to him.
  • The DA really grinds my gears. I enjoyed seeing Foggy take her down a peg.
  • Wow, who knew seeing someone briefly lose their sense of hearing could be so scary?
  • Melvin!
  • How was a dead body able to turn the steering wheel of a truck?
  • Foggy's all like, "Don't go out there, Karen!" And then he goes out there. Pfft.

"New York's Finest" (Season 2, Episode 3)

  • I loved every minute of this episode. Well, every minute with Daredevil and Punisher. The other stuff was fine, but I just couldn't get enough of Frank and Matt on the roof.
  • Not only was it entertaining seeing those two characters interact, but their "debate" on killing was really well-written. Both presented good points and both Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal were on point.
  • I didn't think they could do it, but they did it. The ending fight scene is possibly cooler than the hallway fight last season. I mean, Daredevil's got the chain and the empty gun still taped to his hand. And I'm a sucker for scenes seemingly shot in a single take.
  • I was almost expecting Punisher to help Daredevil out at the end. Alas, it did not happen.
  • It was nice seeing Claire again, and seeing her interact with Foggy. Oh, and she drops a nice Jessica Jones reference.
  • "Red." Love it.
