1. Fury Road's "Black and White" Cut Revealed!!
A while back, Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller expressed interest in releasing a version of the film that was in black and white, believing it would make it more "authentic and elemental."
Well, it seems as though we're getting that version of the movie. A 6-disc box set, called the Mad Max: High Octane Collection, has been discovered on Amazon Germany. The collection will include all 4 Mad Max films, including the black and white version of Fury Road (apparently called the "Black and Chrome Edition.")
I'd be very interested in watching this version, but one of the reasons why I love the normal cut is because it wasn't afraid to be just so darn colourful.
2. Episode VIII Is Wrapping Up...Already!
Star Wars Episode VIII is still 17 months away (STAY ON TARGET), but, holy cow, it's already finishing up principal photography.
Last week, John Boyega and Anthony Daniels both announced that they wrapped, and this week, the wrap party for the cast and crew was held at London's Natural History Museum.
Of course, this doesn't mean it's completely finished. I mean, there's sure to be reshoots and there's more than enough time to get those done. And then there's post-production, yadda yadda yadda. It still feels a bit crazy that they're done filming this early. Rian Johnson must be a happy camper.
3. Some Dumb Doctor Who Rumour.
Before I totally rip into this, I just want to say that I really liked Matt Smith's Doctor. If he were to return but just in a multi-Doctor special, I'd be totally down for it.
Alright. Get ready to read some stupidity.
Last week, The Mirror (a British tabloid, by the way) decided to take some quotes from Smith and Steven Moffat and suggest that Smith could be returning to Doctor Who as the Doctor, and that the Twelfth Doctor would "degenerate" back into the Eleventh after Peter Capaldi bows out.
It's a stupid, stupid, stupid rumour just meant to be click-bait. Could Matt Smith be back at some point in a guest role? Absolutely. But having him come back full time would go against what makes the show interesting, and would just be a blatant way to pander to the Eleventh Doctor fangirls.
So don't buy this for a second.
4. John Barrowman becomes a Arrowverse Series Regular
John Barrowman's Malcolm Merlyn will be joining Wentworth Miller's Captain Cold in the "We're series regulars, but we're series regulars across multiple shows" club next season for the CW's DC slate.
While Miller's contract only includes The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, Barrowman's includes those aforementioned shows as well as Arrow, of course.
I'm getting really interested in seeing how these new contracts will play out for the characters, and what Merlyn's role on The Flash and Legends could entail.
5. A New Filming Start Date for Gambit!
FOX's Gambit movie has been hitting a few speed bumps recently, what with it being delayed and such. But X-Men franchise producer Simon Kinberg has confirmed that the film is still happening and that production will hopefully begin next spring, which I assume will mean a 2018 release date.
So it's 2 years away from when it was supposed to come out, but YAY! It's still happening!
Doug Liman is attacehed to direct and Channing Tatum will be playing everyone's favourite Cajun card-thrower.
