The I’M NOT DEAD Update (featuring a Mini F/A/L Triple Feature)

lumpy

Usually when I go “off the grid” for as long as I did this past week or so, I offer an explanation beforehand on what’s going on. But I didn’t, and I apologize.

So, where was I? I was directing a commercial for my film class, a job which is quite stressful and requires a lot, a lot, of work and attention to detail. The past week has been extremely hectic with preproduction and production on the ad, and on top of that I had another 4 or so fairly big assignments due within the same time frame. I was so stacked with stuff to work on that I felt that I didn’t even have time to write up a post explaining my situation.

But now, the commercial’s filmed, my assignments are complete (for now), and I have a reading week next week, so it’s all good.

Now it’s time to play catch-up.

I’m going to combine my reviews for the past 2 Agents of SHIELD episodes into one handy-dandy post, and I’m hoping to write them up before the week is out.

As for the DC side of things, I decided that, for the sake of not falling behind, I’d put my very brief thoughts on The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow right here. So…

The Flash/Arrow/Legends (Mini) Triple Feature: “Paradox,” “The Recruits,” and “Out of Time”

FALlogo

The Flash: “Paradox” (Season 3, Episode 2)

I liked this episode more than the season-opener. “Paradox” was both heartfelt and heartbreaking, as Barry sought to repair the damages made by his trip through time. Also, seeing (the real) Jay Garrick again so soon was a real treat.

Rating: 8.7/10 noodle recipes

Arrow: “The Recruits” (Season 5, Episode 2)

“The Recruits” certainly wasn’t as strong an episode as “Legacy,” and I think that’s because it seemed to be trying to do too many things in a short amount of time. Like, what did the Diggle scenes have to do with this episode? It was a serviceable, yet flawed episode of Arrow. Also, Ragman’s pretty cool.

Rating: 7.4/10 “green” jokes

Legends of Tomorrow: “Out of Time” (Season 2, Episode 1)

DC\'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW

“Out of Time”  started off very strong, introducing Heywood. reuniting with the Waverider crew in the midst of a swashbuckling mission in the 16th century and battling Damian Darhk in 1942. The last 10 minutes or so went way too fast, speeding through the search for the scattered Legends and the revelation that Rip may have, but probably didn’t, die in that explosion. But hey, we got to see Darhk with the freaking Reverse-Flash. Legion of Doom, here we come!

Rating: 9.0/10 magic mirrors

A regular “Triple Feature” should be up over the weekend (I’m not doing the solo Legends reviews anymore), as well as that double SHIELD review.

And how about the new background, huh?
