The Five Bits (May 1-7): Han Solo, Jabba Flow, Doctor Strange, Marvel TV, and Black Widow

Late? Uh...ha ha. Wha...whaddaya talkin' about?

1. Our New Han Solo is Revealed

After a search that involved literally thousands of actors, Disney and Lucasfilm have reportedly found the man to play the young Han Solo...and that man is Alden Ehenreich.

Ehenreich is known for his role as Hobie Doyle in Hail, Caesar! And, in my opinion, was one of the best things about that movie. So I think he's a good choice for the scruffy-looking nerf-herder.

The Han Solo spin-off is set for release in 2018, with LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller directing.

2.  "Jabba Flow" is Finally Hear! (Get it?! I'm so clever.)

To celebrate Star Wars Day, Lin-Manuel Miranda and JJ Abrams released the full version of "Jabba Flow," the song heard at Maz's Castle in The Force Awakens.

It's pretty catchy. I'll admit that I was playing it over and over again when it was released. Am I a little embarrassed? HA!

A little.

3.  Doctor Strange Gets a Composer

Michael Giacchino has announced that he will be scoring Doctor Strange. Yay!

Giacchino is known for being a PIXAR regular, having composed The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Cars 2, Inside Out, and Up (which he won an Oscar for. He's also done the music for most of JJ Abrams' projects, like Lost, both Star Treks (he's also doing Star Trek Beyond), Cloverfield, and Super 8. Oh, and his cue titles rival my creativeness with puns.

Giacchino's an awesome composer, and I'm a huge fan of his (Listen to his soundtrack for John Carter. Sweet potato pie), so this is great news to me. My excitement for Doctor Strange just went up a huge notch. Others may care less, and in that case...

4.  Trouble For Agent Carter and Friends?

With Upfronts not too far away, the future of a lot of TV shows is being called into question. Two of them are Marvel projects: Agent Carter and Most Wanted.

Apparently, a third season for Agent Carter is highly unlikely because of poor ratings and Hayley Atwell's recent casting in another series. Meanwhile, Most Wanted, the SHIELD spin-off centered around Bobbi and Hunter

It's a bit of disappointing news, but nothing's confirmed until we hear from Marvel or ABC themselves, so grab those salt pinches and cross those fingers.

5.  A Black Widow Movie is Definitely, Maybe Happening

At least once a year since The Avengers, the question of whether or not we'll get a Black Widow solo movie is thrown at Marvel, and every year they answer "Maybe," or "We're not sure." Sure enough, Kevin Feige was asked the question again, and gave...a somewhat more hopeful answer.

In a nutshell. he says that a Black Widow movie wouldn't fit in their schedule until after 2019 (or after Infinity War, Part II), but says that a Black Widow film is something they're committed to doing.

So, again, hopeful, but nothing to get too worked up over.

Meanwhile, I'm over here waiting for my Squirrel Girl movie.
