How many bits? Five, count em', Five Bits!
1. The Flash is Coming to Supergirl
After a bunch of rumours, it was confirmed that Grant Gustin will be appearing in an upcoming episode of Supergirl as The Flash.
This could be really interesting because Superman apparently is heard about a lot on Supergirl, but not on Arrow or The Flash, leading me and may others to theorize that 1.) The Barry Allen in Supergirl will be a different version of Barry Allen than the one in The Flash or 2.) It's the multiverese, amigos! (The latter definitely seems more likely)
I don't watch Supergirl, but this crossover does sound like fun, so I think I might tune in.
2. The Force Awakens Is Still Making Bank
It's been nearly 2 months (already!) since The Force Awakens was unleashed into theaters, and it's still making quite a lot of money.
Last week, the film reached a domestic gross of $900 million, so it looks like it won't let go of the "highest grossing film of all time in North America" title for quite a while, at least until Episode VIII.
But wait, there's more! The Force Awakens also became only the third film of all time, and the first film of all time not directed by James Cameron, to reach $2 billion worldwide. It still has a really good chance at outpacing Titanic;s gross ($2,186,772,302), but beating Avatar's gross ($2,787,965,087) might not be as probable as we thought.
3. LEGO The Force Awakens Game is Happening!
The LEGO Star Wars franchise is set to make a comeback in the summer with a game based on the events of The Force Awakens.
The game will not only cover the events of The Force Awakens, but also include content that bridges the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.
Look, big fan of the LEGO games over here. This sounds great, but I kind of wish they would have waited until this new trilogy was complete so we could have a complete story to go with the game. But, yeah, probably going to buy this the day it comes out.
4. Josh Brolin Talks Thanos
Inevitably, while doing the talk show circuit for Hail, Caesar! (good movie, by the way), Josh Brolin was asked by Conan about playing Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In this video, he doesn't reveal anything major, but his story about the comic book store is golden.
5. X-Men: Legion's Cast Begins to Form
A X-Men TV series called Legion is in development over at FX. This past week, it was revealed that Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) and Jean Smart (Fargo) have all nabbed roles.
Right now, it's not entirely known if Legion will take place in the X-Men film universe or just be its own separate thing (my money's on the latter).
It's also way too early in development for me to have any shred of excitement for this, so we'll see how this comes along.
