My Favourite Bits from the "Captain America: Civil War" Trailer

Just a quick update before we get started: I might be able to churn out a Jessica Jones review by the end of today, and "The Countdown Awakens" will continue with my review of The Empire Strikes Back hopefully by the end of the week. Sound good?

Now, if you haven't already, WATCH THIS TRAILER:

Captain America: Civil War sees the partnership between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark shattered over a proposed bill to control super-human activity. Somewhat like the trailers for The Force Awakens, this teaser gives us enough to get excited by, but the movie obviously still has a lot of tricks up its sleeve.

Here are my favourite bits...

1.) Hey Bucky, you so fine.

The trailer opens where the post-credits scene from Ant-Man sort of left off.  Bucky has reclaimed some of his memory and appears to be caught in some sort of trap. It's still left unclear what he's trapped by. My guess is that it's probably some sort of super-clamp? Or a super-magnet? It's gotta be a super something, though. I'm really interested to see how he got into this almost literal sticky situation. It's also a nice touch to have Cap mending his friendship with Bucky as his friendship with Stark falls apart.

2.) Oh hi, Ross.

William Hurt is reprising his role as General Ross, who last appeared in 2008's The Incredible Hulk. That movie is a strange entry into the MCU, given that Edward Norton was recast and none of the characters who appeared in it have popped up at any point since (Blonsky still gets a mention here and there, though). Having Ross back reaffirms Hulk's place in the MCU. Here, it seems he has a major role in the creation of the Sokovia Accords, the bill which will be at the center of the film.

3.) Enter Iron Man

I like how Stark literally comes busting in to Cap's dilemma. The tension between the two here seems to add validation to a theory that Tony will be after Bucky because he killed his parents, as revealed in The Winter Soldier.

4.) Showdown

We get a good look at who the heavy-hitters are on Cap's team: Cap (duh), Bucky, Hawkeye, and Scarlet Witch. Ant-Man's apparently part of his team too. He could be shrunken down somewhere in this shot. It looks like this will be one huge battle, since there are a handful of other shots around the trailer that seem to take place at the same airport.

5.) Run Bucky Run

Cap pursuing Black Panther pursuing Bucky. Coool. And, dang, Cap and Panther know how to book it.

6.) "Kali-maaaaaaa!"

Going for the arc reactor? Good move, Buck.

7.) "He's my friend." "So was I."

This scene speaks volumes on the relationship between Steve and Tony. Previously, it seemed Tony treated his friendship with Cap in a kind of laid back manner. Here, we find out that he took it very seriously, and seems very hurt by Cap's "betrayal."

8.) Tag Team

THE MONEY SHOT. I actually audibly squealed when I saw this. Not only is the choreography awesome (CAP FREAKING BOUNCES THE SHIELD OFF THE BACK WALL AT LIGHTNING SPEED AND BUCKY CATCHES IT AAAGGHH!), it's great to see Cap and Bucky fighting alongside each other like this, albeit at Tony's expense.

Alright, back to being excited for Star Wars
